Have you guys ever realized or wondered into the subject of “Pets” in general? This is propping up into our minds because we keep on hearing about one celebrity after another adopting one peculiar pet after another. When we think of pets what normally comes to mind are cats and dogs, then you mind wavers onto smaller pets like birds, rabbits, guinea pigs and what not. In our article today, we are going to throw some light on some of the weirdest pet choice ever. Some of these pets are so weird and so unusual that you will certainly do a double take while going over the name. Given below are ten weirdest pet choices ever.
10. Fennec Fox
How many of you are aware of what a Fennec Fox is? It is also known as a desert fox in some areas and is one of the most well known exotic animals on the planet. It might seem as if keep a Fennec Fox at home would be cruelty to the little animal but it has in fact been observed that the fox adjusts really well in a good homely environment and a caring owner. If kept in a home, the little foxes should be let out to play on a daily basis and they are litter box trained to quite an extent which is also amazing.
9. Spotted Genet
The next exotic animal on our list of weirdest pet choices is a spotted Genet. Those people who have not had a personal experience with this little guy seem perceive it has a very volatile and formidable (read intimidating) little creature but in all honesty, it is not. It is just that people who want to own a Genet should have slightly higher levels of tolerance than normal people have for their furry friends and furthermore, owners should expect that the animal does not like to be cuddled and held for long periods of time, more like Persian cats in this way actually.
Now this next pet on our list is also another exotic animal and we must say that this particular animal gained its fame because of Paris Hilton. Miss Hilton is the one who introduced Kinkajou as a possible pet into the generation of dog and cat owners. Although what Miss P failed to realize was that the animal, normally used to a secretive life as a part raccoon though smaller, would not take kindly to all the flashing lights and camera action and it is really none of the poor creatures’ fault that it threw a hissy fit as soon as they landed on the red carpet. Exotic pet owners should know better than that! The little creature is adorable and would certainly love to live a quiet and peaceful live with you.
7. Rothschild Giraffes
Next up on our list of weird pet choices we have giraffes. We would particularly be talking here about the Rothschild Giraffes, the ones that are owned by the Carr-Hartley family. They actually have 8 Rothschild giraffes and a 140 acre state. It is common practice for the giraffes to poke their head in through the dining room window and take a bite of the breakfast with the rest of the family. Who knew you could have giraffes waltzing about your land eh?
How many of you think that some people actually look a lot like Llama’s? Or that Llama’s look like miniature camels? Ok jokes apart we think Llama’s are unbelievably cute and to think that you can actually own one must be quite a thrill. We know of a Russian bear trainer by the name of Dimitry Nikolau who keeps a pet Llama in his apartment. What is even more interesting is that he is looking a baby kangaroo to expand the exotic animal (or maybe just animal) kingdom in his house. All we can manage to say is “Hakuna Matata”.
There is a game ranger who now owns a hippopotamus that weighs three quarters of a ton and is not willing to stay anyway in the wild and prefers the cozy abode of a home. Meanwhile, the hippopotamus is also reportedly fond of drinking nearly ten liters of coffee everyday. The hippo has been fondly named “Jessica” and as you can see in the picture, she is one cute (though rather large for a pet) animal.
How many of you know what a Wallaby is? Well the animal looks a lot like a kangaroo but is smaller in size. It also originates from Australia and if you ever had the crazy thought of owning a Kangaroo but didn’t act on it because you thought Kangaroo’s were bit of a handful, well now you can. Presenting, the miniature Kangaroo known as a Wallaby complete with a baby pouch in the front and all.
3. Ball Pythons
Since we are will be talking more about snakes and reptiles it was only fitting to start with the most docile ones. We are talking about the Ball Pythons being yet another weird pet choice. Ball Pythons (totally not keeping with the signature Python style) is a nonvenomous snake found in Africa. These are commonly kept as pets because like we said before, they are very docile in their nature. Python anyone?
2. Boa Constrictor
The next exotic animal on our list is from a range of reptiles and categorically speaking, the Boa Constrictor. Now this certainly qualifies as one of the top most weirdest pet choices since only the name alone will send chills down your spine. Although it might ease you a little bit to know that Boa Constrictors have been the cause of zero percent fatality in humans although it falls right alongside other very poisonous and venomous reptiles like the reticulated python (chills!). More people nowadays are preferring to keep this “snake” with them and some actually manage to sleep alongside their Boa’s. We must admit, this is one pet that is certainly not for us.
Last but not the least, we would assume a one-liner would be sufficient to do justice to this last entry on our list of weird pets choices and for that we have lions. We are all aware that the Sheikhs of Arabia are pretty famous for their pets which consist of various ranges of panthers, lions, tigers and the rest of cat family. We would have loved to include Dire Wolves in this list but refrained since that would give the article more of a surreal touch.
