It is only just the middle of the year 2014 but apparently the world has had its share of disasters, both natural and those caused by man, that has churned out a lot of casualties. It appears that the earth is revolting against the harm we inflict upon the environment again and yet again. We would certainly be publishing another article before the year ends regarding tragedies with high death toll for 2014 although we cross our hearts and hope to die, wishing that we have nothing new to report when the year finally ends. This article will shed light on the ten tragedies of 2014 where the death toll might be shockingly eye.
10. Balkan Flooding
As per the Bosnian president, the recent Balkan flooding is the worst tragedy that Bosnia, Serbia and Herzegovina has faced since the civil war and even that was more than twenty years ago. Some of the severest floods in history have caused a lot of villages in Northern Bosnia to have around two to three meters of standing water. The Serbian government reported that at least 12 bodies have been found and an additional 13 bodies were discovered from Bosnia and Herzegovina. The saddest part is perhaps the fact that some of the rescuers are also part of those that died. It breaks our heart to know that some people are so devastated but even then they are un-willing to leave their homes. Imagine the terror that they must be feeling. Furthermore, The Red Cross says that there is fear that the landmines (those buried when the area was in serious conflict) have not been removed completely as yet. If and when the landmines shift, they can impose a very real life threatening danger to not only the residents, the evacuees but also the rescuers.

The avalanche killed 16 Nepalese guides out of which only 13 bodies have yet been recovered.
