Russia is a transcontinental country, extending halfway around the northern hemisphere and covering much of eastern and north-eastern Europe and the whole of northern Asia. Russia covers 1/7th of the total land of our planet and neighbors more countries than any other country on earth. The Urals are the oldest mountains in the world and lake Baikal is the world’s deepest lake and the largest reservoir of fresh water on earth. Russia is one million square miles larger than the planet Pluto.
We move onto the next fact on our list of things to know about Russia. In terms of population, Russia is the ninth largest country in the world, even though it’s the world’s biggest country. There are 221 museums, 2,000 libraries, more than 80 theaters, 100 concert organizations, 45 galleries, 62 cinemas and 80 club establishments of culture in St Petersburg. The Russian State Library is the biggest in the country and fourth largest in the World after Library of Congress in the USA. The Russian State Library is located in Moscow and was founded in 1862. So it is pretty evident that not only do music and art have an everlasting place in their culture, knowledge forms an almost unwavering part of the beauty of what Russia beholds.
8. Longest Rail Road and Deepest Subway
The next fact on our list of things to know about Russia is related to the largest railway line in the world and yes, ladies and gentlemen, the Trans-Siberian Railway (connecting Moscow and Vladivostok) is the longest railway in the world. The Metro of St. Petersburg is the world’s deepest subway (about 100 m deep). Every day over 9 MILLION passengers ride the Metro, Moscow’s vast underground subway system. In a single day, an average of 9915 trains operate between 5am — 1am. As utterly unbelievable as it sounds, the place is ginormous and the experience is unforgettable.
7. Largest McDonald’s
We move onto the next fact on our list of things to know about Russia. Where is the largest McDonald’s in the WORLD? In Moscow and in Beijing (700 seats per each). Please, if this is not phenomenal than what is, and even though McDonald’s has been “sort of” put to shame in the entire world recently, it is still pretty amazing to know that Russia has the largest McDonald’s eh?

Now we absolutely love any place that makes two out of just one reason to rejoice and that includes Russia.
