We all know that our earth is a beautiful place. We all know that this planet has so much more to offer if only we care to look. Just a few days ago we bought you that post regarding the ten most beautiful natural fields in the world. The beauty they encapsulated was marvelous and endearing yet at the same time it made you realize, what more have we missed? Well ladies and gentlemen, this post will update you regarding some of those places on earth that literally look like some set for a sci-fi movie or even a horror movie. As you scroll down our list of strange natural landscapes in the world, imagine yourself stranded alone in that place. We bet you will feel as spooked and alienated as we did.
10. Salt Flats Bolivia
This landscape, as the title suggests, is situated in Bolivia and yes, as the title also suggests, it is as flashingly white as salt itself. This was the place where more than three hundred decades ago, Lago Michin existed. Legend has it, and it is actually true, that when that water dried up it left behind billions of tons of salt. What is even more miraculous and spell binding is that during the summer time, a layer of salt turn to water and that creates what is perhaps the world’s biggest reflection ever. If you visit this place, trust us you will feel so strange and the surroundings will feel so surreal that you will have to pinch yourself to actually believe you existence.
9. Chocolate Hills Philippines
The next place on our list of strange natural landscapes is the touted chocolate hills of Philippines. Your mouth shouldn’t start watering yet because this is another one of those strange and bizarre places that would make you marvel nature sure, but also might seem unreal. Another interesting little detail that we would like to share with you guys regarding this place is that legend has it, the little mounds which became known as the chocolate hills, we formed in places where a giants’ tears fell. The giant had supposedly fallen in love with a local village girl. There are more than 1200 mounds (very sad if the legend is true which we really doubt) on this landscape and it is during the winters that these little hills get their characteristic brown colour.
8. Rio Tinto Spain
Blood bath anyone? This is not a joking matter. If you take a look at the picture above you shall see exactly what we mean when we refer to this place as an aftermath of a bloodbath. Rio Tinto situated in Spain is our next strange natural landscape and what you is actually the Red River that Rio Tinto is famous for. The color of the river is due to low oxygen levels as well as mining pollution. People jokingly refer to this place a part of Mars because of the river and the very lunar landscape.
7. Perito Moreno Glacier Argentina
The next place on our list is the humongous glacier, the only one in the world that despite it gigantic size, still continues to grow. What is even more interesting is that the glacier acts as a natural dam in the lake Lago Aregentino causing natural giant ruptures every once in a while. The sight of the glacier itself, which ends in a huge wall right in the middle of Lake Argentino, is so intimidating (being 50 miles long and 500 feet deep) that it would be unnatural for you to not get scared.
6. Spotted Lake Osoyoos British Coloumbia
This next destination is even weirder than the ones that you saw before. This lake is situated in Osoyoos First Nation and despite its unreachable and very unhealthy waters and aura, is a spiritually healing place for the people of Osoyoos. In the summer the lake dries up completely leaving craters in the color yellow, blue and green. The colors are due to high mineral composition of this land including calcium, magnesium and titanium. Bizarre looking place this is, one where you would want to be stranded alone.
