In one lifetime, a person watches a lot of movies and while some of them are exceptional and really fascinating, most of them are plain disappointing. In a recent survey it has been concluded that the movies of the previous era were more realistic and people could relate to those movies in their everyday lives. In today’s modern world however, the movies are more fiction and technology, action and violence then realism. All of these are different genres and each genre has a good and a bad movie but there are some which are so highly appreciated even though they don’t really have anything even remotely interesting or fascinating. This article will aim at distinguishing those movies about which there is so much praise but when you watch them, they fall completely flat.
10. Fight Club
It might do well for everyone to remember that some of the movies in this list are based on our personal perceptions and those of the readers might be completely different but none the less, this article will offer a different perspective. The first movie we will be talking about is Fight Club. Remember how all the boys in your college, school and university used to drool over this movie and look up to it. We believe this was just another run off the mill multiple personality disorder. Most people just join the club and admire a movie for what it isn’t worth at all and fight club tops those ranks.
When it comes to Leonardo DiCaprio, we rarely expect anything short of awesome but when it came to Inception, we really did not understand what all the hype was about. What we mean is that maybe the concept was unique and maybe the cinematography was brilliant but overall, the main comment that people gave was “it’s complex”. So what are we trying to say here, that a movie which makes you wonder what the hell is going on, is supposed to be brilliant – seriously? Half the people didn’t even understand what happened in the beginning and what happened in the end!
8. The Hangover part III
So maybe when the series began it was funny. Part one was certainly hilarious and part was bearable but part three was plain old dumb and not the funny dumb like Dumb and Dumber. The third installment in the hangover series was just immaturity, hookers that were too good to be true and a yippie ride along all thrown together in a bowl.
If there ever was an award for the most painfully boring movie then it must have surely gone to Bridesmaid. And you should have (actually you must have) heard all the people going googoo gaga over this film and how it has a touch of feminism but the girly version of hangover and what not. In short: it so is not! It isn’t funny, it isn’t feminist, it isn’t even hangover and that is not meant as insult! This movie was just Kristen Wiig trying embarrassingly hard!
6. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
So many people harp on about this movie as well and true this movie isn’t all that bad but it isn’t the epic adventure it is portrayed as. There are several defects out of which the most prominent ones are the dysfunctional adults who seem surreal, the female counterparts to Ferris who can either hate him or love and nothing in between, and the soap drama stuff included in the movie just for the sake of it. In short, if this is the genre you are interested in, there are better options out there.
5. The Wizard of OZ
We might be crashing down someone’s list of the best movies or their list of movie they cannot wait to watch but we believe we are spreading public awareness. Take the 1939 release of The Wizard of Oz for an example. There is nothing about this movie that will be missed or that you will be missing if you do not watch it, trust us!
4. The Dark Knight Rises
We believe it should suffice to say that the Dark Knight literally never rose! This movie, which created so much hype and excitement around its release, was such a bitter disappointment that it cannot be captured with mere words. Although fans keep saying that it was in line with the comics, we believe it was as flat as a table top.
3. The Notebook
To be truly honest with you, we had all the reason to pin the movie P.S I love you right alongside The Notebook but then e thought maybe it deserved special attention. Now you might want to know what is wrong with this movie and we are more than willing to oblige. What is wrong is that it portrays such a rosy image of romance and relationships and love that all of the rest of the relationships that are normal (the keyword is normal) start seeming like crap. And it’s true. We believe that there should be a limit to depicting love like this, which barely even exists in the real world; making women around the world think that not only their relationships suck but their men are pathetic too!
2. The Crash
Suffice it to say that most of the people in the theater we were watching the movie in, got thrown out because of sheer pleasure that they felt during the movie! Most of the people, like us, could not help but laugh out loud at the sad crash not that there was anything funny about the people dying but this movie was just unbearable.
1. The Hobbit Part II
Please do not misunderstand us, we are die hard fans of the Hobbit and the whole Lord of the Rings series, the characters the books, everything. What went wrong in the latest installment was, everything. The Hobbit should have been made into one three hour movie and not three separate three hour movies which only force the producers’ toad unnecessary detail and prolong certain scenes to the extent that they test the viewers’ patience. This movie dragged on and on and then ended so abruptly that it left most of the audience dumbfounded.
