We all struggle with weight loss at some point of our lives. It is either in the beginning when we are unable to lose all the baby fat due to the love for food or maybe at a later stage where we are trying to get our physique back after giving birth to little wonder of nature. We are primarily talking about women here because apparently, men do not have an equally hard time coping with weight loss. For all the women out there who have tried everything in sight to lose weight, here are ten tips as to what will not aid any weight loss whatsoever. So if you find yourself following any of the following myths, chances are that you are nowhere near you goal weight. Read on to find out more.
10. Starvation : Myths Regarding Weight Loss
We often rely blindly on the fact that maybe if we starve ourselves, we will manage to lose weight however that is so not the case. What happens is that all diets that take you to a point of starvation are diets that become really hard to maintain. Eventually what happens is that you feel low on energy and start craving food that are high in fat and sugar. The moment you have a cheat day, you eat way too much and beyond your daily caloric needs. This in turn makes you gain weight or at least, does nothing to make you lose the weight.
9. Exercise Is All You Need
While it is true that exercise is the way to lose the weight, exercise alone is not going be sufficient at all. We need to understand the basic principle: exercise along with a healthy low calories diet is what we really need. The fact that wrestlers actually join the gym to gain weight should bust the myth out of the sky. Keep a healthy food intake and burn more calories than you take in and only then you will manage to lose weight.
8. Slimming Pills
While we are on the topic of weight loss myths, it would be wise to also factor in the blind reliability that some people have, on slimming pills. While it is medically proven that slimming pills can actually cause you to bring your weight down, the method does not have long lasting effects. It can even be medically harmful to continue taking slimming pills for weight loss. This technique should only be started if advised by a doctor and even then, the effects will not last.
7. Healthy Food Is Expensive
The biggest lie on the block is that healthy food will be more expensive. When we say healthy food, we do not mean for you to go out and splurge all your money on high end brands labeled fat-free or low-fat etc. What we mean is that you eat green, you eat organic and you eat natural as much as possible.
6. Food Labels
The next myth on our list of myths regarding weight loss is that all packaged foods labeled fat-free or low-fat are actually healthy choices. This again is a matter of intelligence. You need to be really smart about what you are eating. Fat free does not necessarily mean that there will also be no sugars. Generally, all fat free foods are loaded with added sugar. As for low-fat foods, a legal criteria needs to be met before this label can actually be placed on packaged food. The same does not stand true for “reduced-fat” food. So you can never be sure which is why we say it is better to stick to organic.
