5. Terminator Salvation
This next twist that was so not a twist was also ruined by the trailers which makes us think, is the marketing team really on its own? Because if the directors and other people who call the shots, wanted something to be a big revelation and a major movie twist, they wouldn’t allow for it to swamp the theaters six months prior to the movie being released. In the case of Terminator Salvation, the ruined twist was the fact that Marcus (played by Sam Worthington) was part human and part cyborg!
4. The Game
Michael Douglas stars in this movie which was, thankfully, too good to be completely ruined by the fact that’s the twist was not all the mind shattering surreal revelation that it should have been. The big secret was that the movie was the game itself! What a shocker really!
This is another one of those sci-fi movies in which the fans of the same genre could see right through the apparently mind blowing double twists. The lead couple finds out that they are part of a video game so they shoot the designer dead. What happens then is that they are still in another layer of the game. Not so original, not so shocking and therefore, not a twist at all.
2. Gordon Isn’t Dead In The Dark Knight
We are wondering whether this article should have been titled “Twists that were ruined by trailers” rather than “Twists that weren’t twists at all” because even in this movie, The Dark Knight, Gordon is seen with Batman commenting over the capture of the Joker. In the movie, he dies in the first half and the audience is led to believe it is for real.
1. Twilight – Breaking Dawn Part 2
All those who have read the books knew so well that the alleged battle never really happened. But in the movie version, when every good guy in the film is getting his head ripped off, the audience was like “Really! Are you kidding us?” It was perhaps one of the worst twists ever plotted and we are left wondering, when movies are based on best-selling books, why try your luck at a twist anyway.
