If you are willing to take some time off from your hectic lifestyle and go to a place for a few months to write in peace, where do you presume you would go? We know it is quite a tricky question but nonetheless a very important one simply because there is a reason why all good writers almost go into hiding while they write because it is an act that requires one to quit all other thoughts and to focus just on the subject at hand. There is also a situation known as a writer’s block where no matter how hard the writer tries, no words pour out. Simply put, we are bringing you a list of places that will not only help you avoid a writer’s block but will also help you stay focused and give your work your best potential. Presenting below, a list of ten places for budding writers!
10. New Bedford Mass
The first place on our list of places for budding writers we have a small seaside place towards the south of Boston. The most amazing thing about this place is the new era of evolution which is seeing a flock of creative people especially including writers approaching this place which in turn means that there would be absolutely no lack of inspiration if you are willing to head to New Bedford Mass to start a new book. Be it architecture, painting or writing this place has beautiful examples and more so it has beacons of history for those who wish to pursue writing.
9. Cartagena in Colombia
The next place on our list that we believe is Cartagena. For one thing the place hosts the Hay Festival every year, but more importantly, it has what we have come to call the writer perfect living. You won’t have to spend millions on rent and food and therefore will have the capability to camp over here for quite a while with the focus being on your work and not on your rapidly emptying pockets. Next we come to the fact that would the place inspire you to write or not! Well although the city is huge it does not have any established writing community that you could join. But if you are the sort of person who just wants a nice change of location with beaches and pretty streets, where more people speak a language other than English so you won’t be bothered much, then this certainly is the place for you. Enjoy a beautiful peace and an enchanting quiet as your write your way to glory.
8. St. Louis in Missouri
The next place that we think would be perfect for budding writers is St. Louis in Missouri. Just when you thought that this place cannot possibly attract writers to it the St. Louis Writers Guild was conceptualized which allows an average budding writer to network with other more famous and established writers from Gateway City. You may be pleased to know that the rent and living in this place is not expensive and considering it is a very safe place to live, boarding and lodging would seem like a real steal. What is more is that the weather is pleasant more often than not and the amazing landscape will provide you with the perfect opportunity to wait for an epiphany if that’s what it takes!
7. Hay-on-Wye in Wales
Now, like we mentioned before, if you are the sort of person who is looking for a place where you may have access to countless books and reference material then Hay-on-Wye is the perfect place for you. It is one thing that the place is situated on the foothills on Wales (imagine the greenery, the beauty of nature and the weather) but to top it all, the place has the largest number of book stores per capita than any place else in the world like the entire world. Can you believe it? You had better because this place is like a writers dream place. When we say that the place is perfect for avid readers and writers, it comes straight from readers and writers who have been there. Be mindful though that the boarding and lodging may be slightly more expensive than you would want but hey, its Hay-on-Wye, its Wales, it’s the foothills- can you ask for more?
6. Providence in R.I
The next place on our list of the best places for budding writers we have Providence. Now as you must all know that Providence is home to some of the best universities in the world like Brown and it also has the Rhode Island School of design. You will have plenty of opportunities to meet like minded people most of who would be working on scripts (or other works of writing) of their own in various coffee shops and café’s that are scattered around the place
5. Athens in Georgia
The next place on our list is really going to help you branch out by yourself and make it in this world as an individual writer because we are talking about Athens in Georgia, a place that you can make you own. Athens in Georgia is a special little place and although it has a history totally filled to the brink with music, rock bands and even to this date, musicians from all over the country gather here, the place would provide the perfect setting for some peace of mind which is an integral requirement if you are willing to write and write well.
4. Athens in Greece
Being one of the oldest cities in the world, Athens in Greece gives a great competition to every other place on this list and that includes Athens in Georgia (really its flabbergasting as to why there are two Athens in the world. If personal choice was of value, we would say go to Greece). Greece will give you that peace of mind that almost all writers long for although if you are depending on a lot of libraries and intellectual gatherings before putting together your piece, Athens in Greece might not be the place for you.
3. Asheville in North Carolina
Home to none other than F. Scott Fitzgerald, can there be a better place for budding writers like you, for example, to settle down and starting putting pen to paper? We really doubt it! This statement alone is enough to make you want to head over to this place.
2. The Little Nell Resort in Aspen
Now if you are the sort of person that would rather relax in an amazing resort at the foot of the Aspen Mountain and lounge around while you put your thoughts onto paper then Little Nell is the place . We recommend this on our list of places for budding writers simply because it has everything and can cater to all of your needs considering it’s the best mountain resort in the US.
1. Ocean House on Rhode Island
Last but not the least we come to Ocean House. We were reaching for the perfect little resort for people who love to write in isolation but like the isolation to be in style and we came across this place on Rhode Island (which in itself is a plus point). Coastal Rhode Island may not be as sun-drenched as Miami or the California Coast, but Ocean House is not only the state’s most historic property, it is also on the list of Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotels. It was first opened to public in the year 1868 but has recently been remodeled in 2010 and dare we say, Ocean House is now at its finest. With the perfect most beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean, this place is nothing short of a heaven on earth just for you.
