Welcome to another article that will add to your knowledge about a specific country and in this case, we have United Kingdom under our microscopic vision. This article, as usual, will aim to throw light on some of the most interesting facts (things that most of those living in the UK wouldn’t probably be aware off) and figures about the United Kingdom. Given below are ten things to know about the United Kingdom.
10. Trousers in the UK
We are going to start this article about ten things to know about United Kingdom with something that is funny as well as slightly disgruntling (both the aspects will be evident in the next line). So did you guys know that more than 6000 people in the UK seriously hurt themselves by tripping over their trousers (you know the trousers hanging really low on the waist trend)? And did you also know that almost the same amount of people falls down the stairs while they try to “pull them up”! Make what you would like to make of this while we wipe our eyes!
9. Passports for Horses, Ponies, Donkeys
Next on our list of things to know about United Kingdom we have an issue regarding passports. Of course we are all pretty well aware (considering we live in a world that is well aware) that we need a passport before we cross into the border of another country right? We also know that a kid will have a kids passport, a male would have a males passport, a female would have a females passport, a civil servant will have a civil passport and so on! But did you guys know that in the UK, horses, ponies and donkeys should all have a horse passport (if any but they must). As hilarious as it sounds, it is very true.
8. Your love for Alcohol
The next interesting fact on our list of things to know about United Kingdom would turn out to be a very good news for those who would really like to lower the legal age of drinking. Did you guys know that in the UK it is legal for kids under the age of five years to drink alcohol? There is, however, a limitation on the place of drinking which only includes the kids’ own home or private parties. A UK nationality does look very attractive after this eh? This is not a negative thing you know because when you have it in moderation, there is no reason to frown upon Alcohol intake.
7. The Beer Wave
So while we are still on the topic of alcohol and drinking and all, we would also like to inform you guys that there was a beer wave in the UK in the year 1814. What happened was that a huge vat got ruptured and nearly 1.4 million liters of beer flooded (well sort of) London. Wonder how that must have felt. Apparently that London is the only city in the world that had a beer wave or a beer flood.
6. Queen Elizabeth
The next big thing that we have to tell you guys has everything to do with Queen Elizabeth. We know everything about Queen Elizabeth as it is, the great woman ruler, ruling over so many different countries. Now when you think of it in terms of land you will realize (thanks to us) that The Queen owns almost one sixth of the entire land mass of this earth! See now that is huge!
