Another interesting fact that you should all know and be inspired by is that smoking has been banned in Italy since the year 2005. It is obviously allowed in private spaces but in all public places like restaurants, offices and bars (yes bars too) it is totally banned.

Do you guys know how many of Shakespeare’s plays have been set in Italy either fully or partially? Well let us do the honors of informing you here on our list of interesting facts to know about Italy. We are talking about twelve plays to be exact and the same are being listed here for your convenience. It appears as if Shakespeare had taken a liking to the country eh? Julius Caesar, Romeo and Juliet, Othello, The Merchant of Venice, Antony and Cleopatra, Coriolanus, Cymbeline, Much Ado About Nothing, The Taming of the Shrew, Titus Andronicus, The Two Gentlemen of Verona, A Winter’s Tale.

We move onto the next fact on our list of things to know about Italy. The automobile is one of Italy’s greatest products. In addition to the Fiat brand, Fiat owns the Lamborghini, Ferrari, Maserati, Alfa Romeo and Chrysler brands. Aren’t we all thankful?
1. Education – the oldest university
The University of Rome is one of the world’s oldest universities and was founded by the Catholic Church in A.D. 1303. Often called La Sapienza (“knowledge”), the University of Rome is also Europe’s largest university with 150,000 students.
There were so many things that we still needed to tell you guys about Italy but for the time being, we are going to limit this amazing session to this last fact we mentioned about the oldest university.
